UBELIZEABLUE DOCUMENTARY | COMING IN 2024

Unbelizeablue is a "new documentary that follows a multigenerational group of inspiring women leaders striving to protect the world’s second largest coral reef system."

 

The documentary features the work that Reef Conservation International (ReefCI) does spearing invasive lionfish and highlights the impact ReefCI has on the Belize Barrier Reef.

LOST IN THE BLUE DOCUMENTARY | COMING SOON IN 2023

Lost in the Blue is a documentary all about Reef Conservation International's program. The documentary features the experience from a guest's perspective and showcases efforts all around Belize to mitigate lionfish from eating it in restaurants to making jewelry out of it.

The crew interviewed local artisans, ReefCI crew members, and volunteers to capture the program.

In Reef Conservation International's January 2023 article, the program recaps its accomplishments in 2022 under Abby's leadership.

The article highlights the number of invasive lionfish removed, baby turtles hatched, and marine conservation presentations given on Tom Owen's Caye in the Sapodilla Caye Marine Reserve.

Abby is featured in an episode of the Lionfish Podcast talking about her position at Reef Conservation International. 

 

ReefCI's lionfish mitigation program is highlighted through interviewees stories from episodes 1 through 11.

SENIOR SERVICE LEADERSHIP AWARD | APRIL 2021

Abby received an award for "Service to the Local Community" from Miami University. The award is given to "students who enhanced the quality of life beyond the University through activities, services, and/or special projects on or off campus, in Oxford and beyond." 

​

She received the award as a result of her work for World Creativity & Innovation Week/Day (WCIW/D). Abby was pivotal in the United Nations recognized event and the organization's development at Miami. 

FULBRIGHT | FEBRUARY 2021

Abby was announced to Miami University via Global Initiatives News as a semifinalist in the 2021-2022 Fulbright U.S. Student competition. She applied to be an English teaching assistant in Malaysia.

Abby can be seen on the front cover of MUN Impact Community Magazine in February 2021. Reef Conservation International is also highlighted in the January 2021 issue. Andrew Newman, Article author and MUN Impact Director, volunteered at ReefCI alongside Abby in 2021.
